If you are bedridden at the time of your pregnancy it will be somewhat harder to select a pediatrician. Choose one in your community with a good reputation and works at your hospital.

1. Have your pediatrician's work and phone number posted in an easily accessible location. Find out if the triage nurse is handling the phones. When leaving a message make sure their callbacks are prompt. When handling after hours issues are you being well assisted?

2. What are your ideas concerning medication? It seems to me that some doctors like to prescribe medication and some are more cautious.

3. Are there walk in hours or appointments left open for children brought in that have been up all night stick? It's always nice to know that some pediatricians are on early morning duty.

4. Did you feel comfortable with the way your doctor answered your questions? What did you think of your doctors demeanor?
